Statistical Breakdown: How Texans and Bengals stack up before Week 1

Another week, another headline broadcast crew for the Houston Texans‘ matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Texans look to move to 1-1 on the season against Joe Burrow and the Bengals‘ offense after a less-than-stellar defensive outing against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. Meanwhile, the AFC North franchise is ready to get rolling to 2-0, proving this season will be different with Zac Taylor at the helm.

The Texans’ Week 2 showdown from Reliant Stadium will air on CBS at 12 p.m. CT on Sunday afternoon. The television commentators for the game are Kevin Harlan (play-by-play), Trent Green (analyst) and, Melanie Collins(sideline).

Houston’s defense must improve if it plans on getting back to title contention. Houston’s defense allowed 400-plus yard to MVP quarterback Josh Allen and four touchdowns, including a 34-yard touchdown pass to Josh Palmer on the final drive to take the 36-31 lead.

C.J. Stroud’s offense was balanced before the final drive. He finished with 274 yards and two touchdowns, but was also stripped and sacked twice, including on the final drive of the game inside the red zone. David Montgomery scored three touchdowns, including two rushing in the first half, while Nico Collins caught a team-leading seven passes for 75 yards and a score.
