Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is easily one of the best Star Wars ever made. Luckily, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the perfect sequel, in that it didn’t drop the ball and effortlessly improves on the original in every possible way. With a third and final entry officially confirmed, EA and Respawn Entertainment have the chance to deliver the first truly perfect Star Wars trilogy. Really think about it, there has never been a perfect Star Wars trilogy. Return of the Jedi is, at best, pretty good.
Anyway, while we wait for an official update on the next Star Wars Jedi game, we’ll be reuniting with Cal Kestis in December 2026, when the third volume of the ongoing Star Wars Jedi manga will release. For those who aren’t up to speed with this series, the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order manga offers up an action-packed retelling of the 2019 game of the same name.
Volume 2 of the manga, which released in May this year, follows the part of the game in which Cal explored Zeffo and Dathomir and takes readers up to the moment his lightsaber is destroyed and he’s left at his lowest point. It also shows us his first encounter and duel with the Second Sister, which is just as stunning as it was in the game. Now, we have official confirmation that the story will continue in December.
“The multi-volume manga adaptation of the best-selling Star Wars video game continues,” reads a synopsis from online retailer Blackwells. “The saga of Cal Kestis continues in volume three of the manga adaptation of the hit video game! Haunted by tragic memories, and with his lightsaber destroyed, Cal’s quest is about to test him in ways he never could’ve imagined. As he journeys to new planets, Cal delves into his painful past and his relationship with his deceased master. With striking visuals and an action-packed story, readers will be immersed in Cal’s quest like never before.”
Some of the wilder rumors suggested Star Wars Jedi 3 could be announced this year and see a 2026 release, though given we’re now well into November 2026, I’d be astonished if that actually happened. If I had to guess, I’d say perhaps we’ll see an announcement for the third game at The Game Awards in December followed by an early(ish) 2027 release, but I have to stress that really is just a guess. I know nothing. About anything. Ever.
Hopefully the third and (I assume) final volume of the manga will scratch your Star Wars Jedi itch until the third game lands. In other Star Wars news, it finally looks like we’re getting Battlefront 3, although in the ultimate monkey’s paw situation, it appears the new Star Wars FPS has come at the expense of Mass Effect 5, which was scrapped by EA alongside beloved RPG studio BioWare. Were we robbed? Yes, obviously. Here’s hoping one day we live in a world where Mass Effect and Star Wars are both thriving.
