SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — The Sioux Falls Stampede snapped a three-game losing streak on Monday night when they dominated they Lincoln Stars, 6-2 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
The Stampede scored two goals in the first five minutes of the first period as Anthony Bongo found the back of the net on a rebound that leaked out to the face off dot, while Cooper Soller banged home a rebound of his own, but in the crease.
Following a hit to the head of a Stampede player from Lincoln, Soller dropped the gloves to defend his teammate and won the scrap in one punch.
From there, Sioux Falls went to a five-minute power play and just a few seconds in, Ryder Betzold unloaded a bomb from the point to send Sioux Falls to the first intermission up 3-0.
Vojtech Svancar added the next goal for the Stampede in the second, before Lincoln scored a shorthanded goal two minutes into the third.
Just 1:18 later, Svancar would pot his second goal of the night and Soller would assist on the Stampede’s final tally of the night to finish off the Gordie Howe hat trick (goal, assist and a fight).
Up next, the Stampede travel to Cedar Rapids for back-to-back games with the RoughRiders October 16th and 17th.
