St. Cloud State's Jack Reimann exits game in loss vs. Arizona State

ST. CLOUD — St. Cloud State men’s hockey senior center and captain Jack Reimann exited the game in the first period holding his shoulder and did not return in the Huskies’ 3-2 loss against Arizona State in the NCHC opener on Oct. 30. He is still being evaluated for injury.

Reimann has played in all five games this season and this was his 101st career game with the Huskies, accumulating four goals and 11 assists in his four seasons.

“You can never have enough of that [leadership],” head coach Nick Oliver said. “I thought our guys handled it well, especially in a game like tonight. You miss that veteran presence and what Jack brings, so we’re hoping we get good news on that.”

Jack’s father, Dan Reimann, played for the Huskies from 1992-96 and spent four seasons in the ECHL with the Johnstown Chiefs, Louisville Riverfrogs and Florida Everblades.

Prior to the Huskies, Jack played three seasons of junior hockey in the NAHL with the St. Cloud Norseman (2020-21) and the USHL with the Sioux Falls Stampede (2021-22), the Muskegon Lumberjacks (2022-23) and the Des Moines Buccaneers (2022-23).

A Ham Lake, Minn. native, Jack is a 2021 Blaine High School graduate where he played three seasons, scoring 20 goals and racking up 40 assists in 73 games, leading the Bengals to a third-place finish at the 2019 Minnesota Class AA State Tournament.

In Reimann’s absence, the Huskies entered the second period tied 2-2 with goals from junior Gavyn Thoreson and sophomore Noah Urness in the first. After a scoreless second period, the Huskies surrendered the game-winner to Arizona State’s Jack Beck in the third period.

“When you take a center out of your lineup and down to 11 forwards for 50 minutes of that game, it puts some more miles on other guys’ tires,” Oliver said. “We’re going to be in that same game over and over in our league. I think we can learn through a night like tonight, good and bad. I don’t think we worked hard enough to get to the inside of the rink, and as the game went, our ability to earn second and third opportunities around their goalie were more limited than in the first.”

The Huskies are back in action on Oct. 31 against Arizona State to try and even the series.
