Spurs move for Sandro Tonali

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signings of left-back Andy Robertson and centre-back Marco Senesi, both as free agents from Liverpool and Bournemouth, respectively. They’ve also reportedly agreed a deal to sign centre-back Jean Paul van Hecke from Brighton, and according to multiple sources, they’ve made contact with Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali, who is interested in moving to North London. Club-to-club talks are, however, yet to take place on that front.

When, or indeed if, those talks begin, Spurs won’t find it easy to land the Italy international. He is contracted to Newcaslte for three more years. The Magpies would prefer to keep hold of his services in the middle of the park, and they would only be prepared to sell “for a huge fee”, and even that only if the player himself insists.

Meanwhile, Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi is very keen to add the 26-year-old to his ranks.

Since joining Newcastle from AC Milan in 2023, Tonali has made a total of 110 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and assisting as many.
