Sparta Prague is finalizing the signing of Cameroon-born center back Loic Mbe Soh from Belgian club Saint-Truiden, with the player undergoing a medical on August 24 ahead of an official announcement expected within hours, according to iSport.cz.
The fee is set at approximately €3 million, according to eFotbal.cz, which also reports that Mbe Soh is arriving specifically as the replacement for Asger Sorensen, who left Sparta for FC Copenhagen. Eurofotbal.cz confirmed the same defensive gap is what triggered Sparta’s move.
Mbe Soh, 25, joined Saint-Truiden in January 2024 after several loan spells away from Paris Saint-Germain, where he came through the academy. He made his Ligue 1 debut for PSG in May 2019 against Angers at age 17, appearing in a matchday squad that included Marquinhos, Gianluigi Buffon, Dani Alves, Angel Di Maria, Marco Verratti and Neymar. He has carried the nickname “Monstro 2.0,” a reference to former PSG captain Thiago Silva, since his academy days.
Sparta Prague is the reigning force of Czech football and a regular in European competition, giving Mbe Soh a platform to rebuild the momentum his career lost after leaving PSG without establishing himself at a top-level club. At 25, with senior Ligue 1 minutes already on his record and four seasons of regular Belgian top-flight football behind him, he arrives as an experienced, ready-made option rather than a developmental project, exactly what Sparta needs after losing a starting center back.
For Saint-Truiden, a $3 million sale for a squad player who is now 25 and out of contract considerations at a smaller Belgian club represents reasonable business, freeing a place for the club to continue its usual model of developing and moving players on.
Status: Mbe Soh is completing a medical with Sparta Prague and the move is expected to be announced officially within hours. Personal terms and the fee are already agreed between the clubs; only the final signature and medical clearance remain.
