Spalletti wants ‘more grit’ from Kolo Muani

Randal Kolo Munai must show “more grit”, so says Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti.

Juventus made it two wins from two to start their Serie A campaign by beating Parma 2-0 on Saturday.

Nico Gonzalez and Teun Koopmeiners grabbed the goals for the Bianconeri.

Kolo Muani once again featured for the whole game. He had several chances early in the second half, but failed to take them.

This came after Spalletti had criticised Kolo Muani’s display in Juve’s opening win over Frosinone, and the Bianconeri boss wants to see a bit more from the striker.

“I think he knows how to play in many situations, because he has quality and pace,” he told DAZN.

“He just needs a little more blood in the veins, more grit during those moments, as in my view that will sort everything out. 

“It’s hard to find spaces when the opponents sit back, but Kolo Muani has the quality to drop back and create those spaces.

“The lads put in a great performance, then you can say whatever you like, but that is how I see the match.”

Juve were dominant, having 21 shots, accumulating 1.58 expected goals and conceding just four attempts in return.

“It was a solid performance, with the right objectives, motivation, quality and constant pressure. Clearly, you need that moment to finish it off,” Spalletti added.

“I’m happy to keep pressuring opponents for that amount of time.

“We weren’t as precise as we could’ve been to cause more shots on goal, but we did create a lot of situations.”

This is the first time Juve have not conceded in their first two Serie A games of a season for three successive campaigns.

Juve have won their first two Serie A matches for the third consecutive season, achieving this feat each time under a different coach.
