Spain's World Cup star Ferran Torres requests move to PSG, per reports

World Cup star Ferran Torres has requested to play for Paris Saint-Germain, according to multiple reports.

The 26-year-old forward has informed his current club, FC Barcelona, that he has agreed to personal terms with PSG, ESPN reported on Saturday, Aug. 8. Spanish publication Marca said that the two clubs have been negotiating for “several days.”

USA TODAY Sports has reached out to a La Liga contact and has not heard back at the time of publication.

Torres scored the winning goal for Spain in this summer’s World Cup, defeating defending champion Argentina and Lionel Messi 1-0. Torres could be following in the footsteps of the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner by going from Barcelona to the French club.

Paris Saint-Germain has won the Champions League two years in a row after Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé left for other clubs.

Torres has 65 goals in 207 appearances for FC Barcelona, which also has teenage sensation Lamine Yamal on its roster. He won three La Liga titles, including back-to-back championships this spring. Barça is also losing Marcus Rashford, who will return to Manchester United, and Robert Lewandowski, who joined the Chicago Fire.
