Sophie Cunningham keeps finding new ways to surprise sports fans. Less than 24 hours before the Indiana Fever‘s nationally televised showdown with the Las Vegas Aces, Cunningham made an unexpected appearance at UFC 329, stepping into the spotlight as a guest ring girl during Saturday night’s event at T-Mobile Arena.
The cameo quickly went viral across social media, with photos and videos of the Fever guard walking around the Octagon spreading throughout the sports world.
Sophie Cunningham steals the spotlight at UFC 329
Cunningham attended UFC 329 in Las Vegas, where Max Holloway defeated Conor McGregor in one of the night’s biggest fights. But before one of the featured bouts, Cunningham traded her basketball uniform for UFC ring-card duties.
Wearing a black tank top and black shorts while going barefoot around the Octagon, the 6-foot-1 Fever guard confidently carried the round card in front of a sold-out crowd. The surprise appearance caught fans completely off guard, and the reaction inside T-Mobile Arena made it clear the crowd appreciated the unexpected crossover.
Photos from the event also showed Cunningham laughing and joking with Holloway following his victory.

Dana White reveals how it happened
As it turns out, the appearance wasn’t planned well in advance. UFC president Dana White told reporters afterward that Cunningham approached him just minutes before walking into the Octagon.
“She was like, ‘I want to do that,'” White said.
“I told her, ‘Then you will do it.'”
According to White, the conversation happened roughly eight minutes before Cunningham made her ring-girl debut. The spontaneous decision immediately became one of the most talked-about moments outside the night’s fights.
Cunningham continues expanding her star power
The appearance adds another memorable chapter to what has already been a breakout year for Cunningham off the court. The Fever veteran has become one of the WNBA’s most recognizable personalities thanks to her outspoken personality, fashion moments, social media presence and growing list of national appearances.
She was also featured as a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model earlier this year, further raising her profile beyond basketball.
Now, she can add “UFC ring girl” to that list.
Fever return to action against Aces
The timing made Cunningham’s appearance even more surprising. Just one day later, the Fever are set to face A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces in one of the WNBA’s marquee matchups.
Indiana will be looking to continue its strong season against a Las Vegas team that has climbed back into championship form behind Wilson, who recently returned from injury.
While Cunningham’s focus quickly shifts back to basketball, her memorable cameo at UFC 329 gave fans one more reminder that she’s become one of the most recognizable personalities in all of women’s sports. Whether she’s making winning plays for the Fever or making a surprise appearance inside the Octagon, Cunningham continues to find herself at the center of some of the sports world’s biggest moments.
