Somerset College Prep’s Dylan Beck finishes third at state bowling finals

ORLANDO — Dylan Beck ended his prep bowling career with a bang.

He collected 18th-place finishes at the state’s biggest meet in each of the previous two years. One week after capturing the District 12 championship, the Somerset College Prep senior showed he could compete among the state’s elite.

Beck was the area’s top finisher at FHSAA State Championships after taking third on Thursday from the Boardwalk Bowl Entertainment Center in Orlando. It is the best boys individual result since former Spartan Quinn Bostic took third in 2022.

After earning his spot into the 16-player knockout bracket with a 922 four-game series, Beck was just round shy from reaching the state championship match.

The Spartans senior earned wins over Park Vista’s Jett Kramer (487-415) and South Plantation’s Daniel McDevitt (691-682) before falling to Windermere’s Ryan Martin (509-441) to move to the consolation bracket.

From there, Beck defeated Hagerty’s Johnathan Madruga (508-447) and Southwest Miami’s Samuel Garcia (494-417) to move on to a rematch with Martin. Beck was defeated 734-705 in a three-game series as Martin went on to win the state championship.
