‘Simply not good at basketball’: Criticism mounts for Angel Reese despite win
The Atlanta Dream lost in a blowout to the Las Vegas Aces on Monday night, 109-87. As embarassing as the final score was, Dream superstar Angel Reese, whom the franchise acquired this offseason via a trade with the Chicago Sky, was dominant.
Reese scored 23 points and 16 rebounds while posting -3 +/- , which was especially impressive given the 22-point loss. Still, Reese faced heavy criticism for getting blown out. On Wednesday, she and the Dream got a crack at redemption against the Phoenix Mercury and didn’t waste it.
Atlanta defeated Phoenix, who acquired star point guard Kelsey Plum at the trade deadline, 96-82, and Reese showed why she’s been an All-Star every season since she was drafted in 2024.
The forward finished the game with yet another double-double, scoring 14 points on 7-for-14 shooting and snagging 10 rebounds to boot. Despite her impressive numbers, there are fans who are convinced Reese isn’t “good at basketball” after watching a collection of plays from Wednesday’s contest.

“I get so tired of the gaslighting done with this one. She is just simplynotgoodatbasketball. She has long arms and that’s it,” one fan posted on X.
“(She) has to learn that when she is at the 3 point line and the person guarding her walks away to the paint… just go ahead and pass the ball,” someone else added.
“Im fairly confident the best junior varisty high school teams would be a better representation of the game than this,” another person wrote.
“She is not a hooper, how did she even make it this far?” one person added.
Reese’s offensive game could certainly use some polishing, but there’s no real argument that she isn’t one of the best players in the league if people watch the full games and see the impact she has. The U.S. National Team certainly thinks she’s one of the best players in the WNBA, as she was officially named to the team for the 2026 FIBA World Cup.
