The Boston Celtics continue to be linked with a potential trade of Jaylen Brown. The All-Star forward was publicly dangled in trade discussions for Giannis Antetokounmpo, and following his move to Miami, he is reportedly testing out Brown’s value around the rest of the NBA.
According to Jake Fischer, the Detroit Pistons have been weighing up a potential deal for Brown, which would see them sign-and-trade their starting big man, Jalen Duren.
“There’s also a potential backstop emerging for Boston’s Jaylen Brown trade discussions,” Fischer reported, via The Stein Line newsletter. “Detroit is very much weighing the prospect of signing-and-trading restricted free agent Jalen Duren for Brown, sources say, among other conceptual outcomes, if that option remains available for the Pistons once free agency opens on Tuesday evening.”
Duren would undoubtedly plug a gap in the Celtics rotation. Furthermore, the Pistons would need to send Boston additional assets, including players and draft picks. Whether a move involving Duren would be the right choice for the Celtics is certainly open for debate, though.
