Deshaun Watson is the team’s starting quarterback, and management has made it clear that it’s a job for him to lose at this point, so he’s pretty secure. Plus, he just pulled off a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which isn’t a small feat.

But quarterback Shedeur Sanders is waiting in the wings. He’s hungry for a chance to hit the field. With so many quarterbacks going down already in the NFL, it’s not crazy to think that Sanders has some trade capital, too, for the Browns.

Watson notched 238 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday’s 23-19 victory over the Bucs. Now, ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Rizzo is looking at this team’s quarterback situation and thinking that Sanders could be traded. It’s not a new idea, but it takes on new meaning with what’s going on with both the Browns and in the NFL right now with injured quarterbacks.

“I think the Browns deal Shedeur before the deadline,” Rizzo said on the radio, according to a clip shared by the official ESPN Cleveland account. “I think Gabriel’s your backup and Taylen Green is your third. I think Deshaun could start a dozen games. I do. I hope so.”

So, Sanders could get more field time with another franchise, and that’s what he wants to do: Get on the field. Yes, the Sanders trade talk is emerging again, and it’s likely never going to really go away.
