CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Share House is bringing the energy of its popular World Cup watch parties into football season with a series of college football tailgate events in downtown Charleston.
Located off Ann Street, Share House announced its Alley Tailgate series, featuring major college football matchups on a 330-inch video wall set up in the alley beside the venue.
Owner Keith Benjamin said the idea grew out of the success of Share House’s World Cup watch parties this summer. “To try to kind of carry that momentum into the fall just made a whole lot of sense for us,” Benjamin said.
Benjamin said Charleston’s mix of college football fans helped inspire the series.
“You’ve got your fair share of Clemson fans and Carolina fans and Georgia fans and Florida fans,” he said. “There’s so many fans from different schools right here in Charleston.”
The next Alley Tailgate is scheduled for Oct. 10. Share House plans to close the alley for the event and feature a DJ, along with smash burgers, hot dogs, and additional outdoor bar service.
Benjamin said the new video wall is one of the event’s biggest attractions.
“That’s a 330-inch screen, and it’s run by a generator. It is enormous,” he said.
No tickets are required, and all events are for guests 21 and older.
When asked what he hopes visitors take away from the experience, Benjamin pointed to the atmosphere as much as the game itself.
“I want them to talk about the experience every time,” he said. “I want them to talk about the food. I want them to talk about the drinks. I want them to talk about the service and the hospitality above all else.”
Additional Alley Tailgate dates are planned for Nov. 7, Nov. 21, and Dec. 5.
