Seedy K’s Preseason Pigskin Preamble: Brohm Speak
We are four weeks out from the first edition of the highly heralded Pigskin Prognostications in advance of Week 0’s battles.
To get you in the habit of tuning in each Wednesday afternoon of the football season, I’ll be posting football stuff here in this time slot during a run up to the campaign.
Louisville Football Media Day is tomorrow.
Coach Jeff Brohm and some selected players shall be available.
Vegas’s odds on favorites to appear are Lincoln Kienholz and Clev Lubin*.
* The must have returnee DL (8.5 sacks) is on the Nagurski Watch List.
A previous commitment prevents me from attending. Though I’ll be checking out the tapes, and report any breaking news of import you might miss in news reports from others.*
*There won’t be any.
However, since you are wearying of summer, tired of buying school supplies, not interested in the post World Cup travails of FIFA dictator Gianni Infantino, you must be chomping at the bit for any pigskin prattle.
Who’s here for you?
That’s right, moi.
Thus, I have looked into my crystal ball, texted with Carmac the Magnificent, and I Chinged myself.
All of which, plus my experience from attending way too many of these pro forma preseason pressers where coachspeak is the default language allows me to advise you today what Jeff Brohm shall say tomorrow.*
* As you should have already noticed, interspersed here and there with said “quotes,” some actual pigskin info of peripheral relevance in advance of the upcoming season.
Coach???
“We’re really looking forward to getting out on the football field and getting started.
“Really excited about the beginning of practice.
“The guys have worked hard in the off season. They are hungry. Ready to get going. Ready to show what we’re made of.
“I’m excited about our football team.
“Ole Miss* is a great test right out of the gate on that first Sunday night. It’s a real challenge. Hope the Cardinal Nation fills the stands in red in Nashville.
* The Rebels are preseason in the coach’s poll, which votes are actually those of some staff members of the schools whose coach’s “vote.”
“We have a really tough schedule. We’re one of the few teams playing 11 P4 schools. We’re in a great conference.* Lots of parity.** You have to be ready to play every week.
* Miami is the almost unanimous choice to win the ACC. Consensus has SMU, Clemson and U of L trailing in that order.
** Watch out for NC State. The Wolfpack don’t play the ‘Canes, Mustangs or Tigers, and get the Cardinals in Raleigh. Also UVa.
“Really excited about Lincoln Kienholz.* He’s worked really hard in the off season learning our system. It’s his time. He’s hungry to show what he can do.
* The ranked QB in the country, according to some dude at theathletic.com.
“He’s a real athlete. He can do things we haven’t had here before. Run. Extend plays.
“I love our running back room. Isaac Brown* of course is the best in the country. Keyjuan Brown. Braxton Jennings. Marquis Davis from Missouri.
* An expert at one of the sites says Ole Miss RB KeWan Lacy is “the best RB.” We’ll find out Week I.
“Can’t wait to get started.”
