After the Texas Rangers‘ win over the Mets Thursday, the Seattle Mariners have been officially eliminated from postseason contention.
The Mariners needed the Rangers and the Houston Astros to lose out the rest of the season. With Texas’ win, the Mariners are out.
That being said, the season is not over. The M’s have four more home games — all against the Los Angeles Angels.
The Angels series coincides with a celebration of legendary broadcaster Rick Rizzs, who is retiring at the end of the season.
The Mariners face the Angels tonight, Sept. 24, at T-Mobile Park. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m.
