Scottie Scheffler on track to break his own PGA Tour record with two rounds left at East Lake

Scottie Scheffler may have only won twice this season, but he has still been the best and most consistent player on the PGA Tour.

It’s a testament to Scheffler’s quality that two PGA Tour wins in a season is looked upon as fairly underwhelming.

The 30-year-old world number one has recorded an incredible 12 top-5 finishes in 19 starts this season.

Scottie Scheffler is well positioned to win the Tour Championship after two rounds at East Lake, as he heads into the weekend trailing the leaders by just two strokes.

Scheffler’s record when trailing by two heading into the weekend is ominous, winning seven out of the last 10 tournaments in that exact scenario.

If the man from Dallas, Texas, does triumph at the PGA Tour finale, he will surely win his fifth Player of the Year award in a row.

That would equal Tiger Woods‘ record of five consecutive Player of the Year awards from 1999-2003.

However, Scheffler holds one PGA Tour record that Woods was never able to match.

Tiger Woods actually holds the record for ‘adjusted scoring’ – a metric used by the PGA Tour whereby they factor in course difficulty.

Factoring in adjusted scoring, Woods averaged 67.79 twice, in 2000 and 2007.

However, Scheffler is now on track to break his own record in what is known as ‘raw scoring average’.

The 30-year-old world number one currently holds the record with an average score of 67.99 during the 2025 season.

He also has the second-best scoring average of all time (68.01 in 2024).

After his second-round 67 at East Lake on Friday, Scheffler’s season-long average now stands at an incredible 67.96.

If Scheffler shoots a pair of 67s at worst this weekend at East Lake, he will break his own record, unless he plays an event on the Fall Series later in the year and shoots worse than 68 every day.

Either way, Scheffler’s stroke average this season proves just how good he has been in 2026, and he so easily could have four or five wins to his name, maybe even more.
