Savannah Bananas to play at Alamodome for first time in 2027

The Savannah Bananas, known for choreographed dances, crowd participation and fast-paced games, will play at the Alamodome next year for the first time.

The Bananas will face the Texas Tailgaters on Sept. 10 and 11, 2027. Fans hoping to buy tickets must register for the team’s Ticket Lottery List at bananaball.com by 10:59 p.m. Central time Oct. 31.

A random drawing will determine who gets the chance to purchase available tickets.

Registration does not guarantee a chance to buy tickets; those selected will be contacted with next steps.

The Tailgaters have played at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium in recent years, hosting the Party Animals in 2025 and the Loco Beach Coconuts in 2026.

The Bananas play Banana Ball, a fast-paced version of baseball that blends competition with entertainment in a style likened to the Harlem Globetrotters’ basketball shows.

The team began in Savannah in 2016 as a college summer-league team. It introduced the first Banana Ball rules in 2020 and became a full-time professional team in 2022. The Banana Ball Championship League expanded to six teams in 2026.

The rules are designed to keep games moving and add unusual scoring twists. Each inning is worth a point to the team that scores more runs, and no new inning can begin after two hours.

Walks become a sprint: After ball four, the batter runs to first while the defense tries to get the ball to every fielder. Batters can also steal first on a passed ball or wild pitch. And when a fan catches a foul ball cleanly, the batter is out.

Banana Ball has drawn large crowds on tour. The Alamodome said the 2026 tour played before more than 3.2 million fans across 75 stadiums, while the Tailgaters sold out their Wolff Stadium games in each of the past two years.
