Clemson offers 2028 RB averaging more than a first down per carry

Clemson has now gone double-time on offering running backs in the 2028 class, and its latest target holds a resume you cannot look past. Four-star Newton (Georgia) standout Kevin Hartsfield announced the offer Friday, writing on X, “Blessed and honored to receive a Division 1 offer from The Clemson University.”

Listed at 6 feet and 200 pounds, Hartsfield has run for more than 740 yards and 10 touchdowns through seven games this season. He is averaging 11.8 yards per carry, meaning that on an average handoff, Newton gains enough for a first down with room to spare. Hartsfield was even more efficient as a sophomore, rushing for 1,302 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 12.3 yards per attempt. That is higher than the 8.7 yards per carry Derrick Henry averaged across his four-year high school career. The current Baltimore Ravens running back was an absolute monster at Yulee, setting a national record with 12,124 rushing yards before heading to Alabama.

Hartsfield also ran an 11.04-second 100-meter dash during track season, and that speed appears whenever he gets into the open field. That’s not even mentioning the kid has already received 50+ offers to go to college. The current 247Sports rankings place him No. 33 nationally, second among running backs and fifth in Georgia.
