Saturday Football Open Thread
Welcome to Week Two in the 2026-27 Premier League! Last week was not so great for Tottenham Hotspur after they made the short trip down London way to Brentford, where they promptly got boatraced. Today they again have the late match, but are home to Newcastle, a team that, like Spurs, have had a significant amount of turnover and have a number of questions to be asked about their squad.
That comes later. First, there’s a slate of other, earlier matches for your viewing enjoyment. Well, three of them anyway. I don’t really understand how UK football matches get scheduled on TV. Why are there only four today and four tomorrow, three of them at 9 a.m.? It makes no d—n sense! …Compels me though.
I know y’all like to chatter about soccer, and that’s what this thread is for. Getting up early to watch Liverpool vs. Nottingham Forest? We’re here for you. Slept in and catching the 10 a.m./3 p.m. matches? We gotchu.
This is your open thread. Loud noises!
