‘Same names. Same room. Same mistakes’ – Celtic board blasted after Ibrox defeat
Celtic Supporters Ltd have turned their attention towards the club’s hierarchy following Sunday’s damaging 3-0 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox.
Martin O’Neill and his players have faced significant criticism after Celtic crashed out of the Premier Sports Cup, with the manager’s team selection among the major talking points following a dismal derby display.
However, CSL believe questions must also be asked of those making the major decisions behind the scenes at Celtic Park.
The supporters group opened their reaction by stating: “Results are downstream of decisions. Decisions are downstream of the people who make them.”
They followed that with a pointed criticism of Celtic’s current leadership structure. CSL said:“Same names. Same room. Same mistakes. An interim in the chair since January and nobody able to say who decides, or when.”
O’Neill and his players have not escaped scrutiny, with former Celtic striker Chris Sutton among those to heavily criticise the performance at Ibrox.
But CSL have also questioned the position of interim chairman Brian Wilson, who has occupied the role since January.
Celtic’s interim accounts confirmed Wilson became interim chairman on January 1, 2026, following Peter Lawwell’s resignation from the board on December 31, 2025.
Questioning the accountability at boardroom level, CSL added: “In any other plc, how many wrong calls before the board changes?”
