The Seattle Seahawks and their fans are holding their collective breath on Thursday as quarterback Sam Darnold undergoes tests to determine the severity of his injury.

Darnold suffered a hip injury on the very first drive of the season-opening contest against the New England Patriots that forced his early exit.

On Thursday afternoon, ESPN’s Adam Schefter provided the results of the MRI Darnold was scheduled to get, and the news is positive.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the MRI shows that Darnold has “dodged a bullet” and avoided a major injury.

Schefter adds that Darnold is expected to miss at least some time, but it doesn’t appear he has a long-term issue.

“Seahawks QB Sam Darnold underwent an MRI on his hip this morning that team doctors still are reviewing to determine how much time he will miss. It is expected to be some, but for now the team believes it, as one source described, ‘dodged a bullet,'” Schefter reported.
