Shaik Rasheed

According to the Times of India, the 21-year-old is understood to be the frontrunner for the vacant spot and has been asked to report to the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. His progress has been constantly tracked by the selectors, and the feedback from the CoE coaches has reportedly been very positive.

Rasheed also brings the advantage of recent exposure to Sri Lankan conditions, having toured with the India A side there last month. He contributed scores of 45, 63 and 20 across the three innings, showing the temperament that has long marked him out since his days captaining India at the Under-19 level.
