‘Safety of students, staff remains central’ — FG confirms unity colleges resume Monday

The Federal Government has confirmed that all federal unity colleges nationwide will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026.

The Federal Ministry of Education made this known in a statement issued on Friday, September 11, by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo.

Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, said arrangements had been made to ensure the safe return of students and staff as the new academic session begins.

He said relevant security agencies had been informed of the resumption plans and would maintain heightened vigilance around the colleges and their immediate environments.

“The safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain central to the Federal Government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning,” Alausa said.

The minister urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and prepare their children to return to their respective colleges on Monday.

He also directed school authorities to work closely with security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure an orderly resumption.
