This Thursday 5 November our Red Bulls face one of the most exciting away trips on their UEFA Europa League fixture list. With 34 league titles and several European trophies to their name, Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht are not only the undisputed biggest name in Belgian football. The club also embodies, perhaps more than any other in Europe, a unique balance between a regal footballing past and an avant-garde present.

Between red brick and floodlights

The match will take place at Lotto Park – a venue still known to many European football romantics by its historic name, the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium. Located in the heart of the lush Astrid Park in the Brussels suburb of Anderlecht, the arena has a capacity of approximately 21,500 spectators. What makes this place so special is its deep connection to the surrounding neighbourhood. The stands are positioned so close to the surrounding terraced houses that one corner of the stadium even had to be cut off diagonally to avoid obstructing the street.
106Million Euro estimated market value

On match days, the area around the stadium is filled with the scent of classic Belgian fries and light-coloured beer. In the neighborhood’s long-established pubs, portraits of legends – such as Henri Meert, Jan Mulder and homegrown talent Romelu Lukaku – hang on the walls.
Jerseys from a pop star, football as haute couture

The fact that the Mauves et Blancs (Purples and Whites) place great importance on their appearance has always been part of the club’s identity. In recent years, the club has partnered with the Brussels-based fashion label Mosaert – a venture spearheaded by none other than global superstar Stromae, alongside designer Coralie Barbier and Luc Van Haver. Together, the collective gave the team’s kits and overall visual identity an elegant makeover, and they even produced a remix of the club anthem.
On the banks of the canal
Our team are heading to a capital defined by fascinating contrasts. On one side lies Brussels’ glamorous city center, home to the magnificent Grand Place, the royal galleries, and the world of international diplomacy. On the other side, west of the canal, pulses the authentic, gritty heart of Anderlecht, where the club remains deeply rooted in the daily life of the neighbourhood.

On Thursday, it will be crucial for our boys to prevent the hosts from finding their rhythm on the pitch and to proactively silence the intense atmosphere at Astrid Park by imposing our own dynamic style of play! Fans following from home can catch the action via a stream on Canal+ with the match starting at 18:45 CET.
