Romano on when “official bid” for Barcelona attacker is expected

Monday is here and a week which promises to be one of the biggest in the summer transfer window has kicked off.

One move which could make serious strides this week is the transfer of Ferran Torres from Barcelona to PSG.

It was revealed over the weekend that the attacker had made it clear to his club that he was keen to leave and take a new opportunity in Paris. Because he only has one year of contract left, they have little choice but to comply with his wishes.

Torres has personal terms agreed with PSG ahead of move

Fabrizio Romano has today declared that the Spanish club expect to receive the opening offer for Torres from Barcelona “shortly.”

That will lead to some back and forth over the transfer fee. But his contract situation limits their leverage in talks. An agreeable price could be found quickly.

Romano says that Torres already has a verbal agreement on personal terms with PSG, and they’ve communicated that to Barcelona. Everything now hinges on the two clubs finding a transfer fee they’re happy with.

This could all be wrapped up by the end of the week, if both teams are reasonable with their negotiations over a player that they’ve both accepted will be making the move at some point. Barcelona will want to get as much as possible – but also know they need to get the cash in so they can start work on replacing the former Man City and Valencia man.

We suspect there will be a “here we go” before Friday…
