Roma submits €25m bid for Feyenoord defender Givairo Read

Roma has submitted a €25 million bid for Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read, according to Fabrizio Romano. Negotiations between the clubs are underway, while Nottingham Forest is reportedly still interested, despite Feyenoord declining their offers twice.

Roma has submitted a strong offer and now appears to be the frontrunner in the race for Read. Their move is one of the latest transfer news, and it should still be considered as a transfer rumor until the clubs reach an agreement.

Read has a contract that gives Feyenoord a strong negotiating position. In April 2025, Feyenoord announced that the Amsterdam-born defender had agreed a new deal running until the middle of 2029. Read is an attack-minded back and a true representative of the Dutch school of football, and we know that many of Read’s compatriots left a deep mark in Serie A.

Read joined Feyenoord from Volendam in 2023 and initially linked up with the Under-18 team. He quickly moved into the senior side and became a regular option on the right. His rise explains why Feyenoord moved early to extend his contract and why the club can now demand a substantial fee.

It is interesting that Read already has a Roma connection; his first senior start for Feyenoord came against the Italian club in the Europa League in February 2024. He later made his Champions League debut against AC Milan and became one of the youngest Eredivisie players this century to register three assists in one match, doing so against FC Twente in March 2025.

Roma’s €25 million proposal places Read among the more substantial young-player deals being considered in the current Serie A transfer market.

Status: Roma has submitted a €25 million bid and is negotiating with Feyenoord. Nottingham Forest remains interested after two rejected offers. Feyenoord has not accepted Roma’s proposal, no personal terms have been reported, and the transfer is not official.
