According to Corriere dello Sport, AS Roma have rejected an offer from Atletico Madrid for the services of Manu Kone. The Giallorossi maintain that the 25-year-old midfielder is not for sale, but their resolve could be tested again with the Rojiblancos not giving up, and the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool monitoring the situation closely. Apparently, €60 million could be enough to change Roma’s stance.
Kone joined Roma from Borussia Monchengladbach two years ago for a reported fee of €18 million, but his stock has risen significantly since, particularly since his World Cup performances with France helped him establish himself as an important part of Didier Deschamps’ team. He has so far made 82 appearances for the Serie A club, scoring four goals and contributing six assists from his position in the middle of the park, while earning 18 caps for his country.
United have so far completed the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and are on the verge of completing the transfer of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa, while Liverpool are yet to make a midfield signing this summer.
