From a potential departure to a player Gian Piero Gasperini wants to continue working on.
The situation surrounding Robinio Vaz, the young Roma striker who managed to gain the trust of the Giallorossi coach during preseason training, has changed over the summer.
At the start of the training camp, the Frenchman’s future seemed unclear, with the possibility of a temporary transfer to allow him to find greater consistency.
As the weeks passed, writes La Gazzetta dello Sport, however, Vaz’s quality and room for growth have won over Gasperini.
The coach has decided to work directly with the player, attempting to develop his skills and establish him as a permanent fixture in the first team’s attacking rotation.
This decision has also had immediate consequences on the transfer market. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma have rejected several loan requests from Serie A.
The club therefore appears unwilling, at least at this stage, to send Vaz elsewhere to gain experience: Gasperini wants to keep him at Trigoria and see how far he can take him by working with him daily.
A striker, but also a winger: Vaz could find more space than expected in a position the Grugliasco-born coach likes to keep particularly crowded. This small advancement was achieved directly on the pitch during pre-season, and Vaz aims to capitalize on it after his first six months of apprenticeship in Serie A.
