‘Reject tribalism, political division’ – Gov Kefas urges Taraba residents

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has urged residents of the state to sustain unity, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect, irrespective of their religious, ethnic or political differences.

Kefas made the call on Saturday at a one-day summit organised by the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Muslim Religious Matters, Hussaini Ismail.

The summit brought together Islamic organisations, religious leaders, scholars and other community stakeholders to deliberate on peace, unity, good governance and sustainable development in the state.

The governor warned against attempts to divide Taraba along religious or ethnic lines, stressing that the state belongs to all its citizens.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to good governance, improved welfare and people-oriented development, urging residents to support initiatives aimed at building a peaceful and united Taraba.

Participants at the summit commended the administration for its efforts in education, peacebuilding and improving the welfare of citizens.

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Muslim Religious Matters urged Tarabans to reject tribalism, political division and other sentiments capable of undermining peace and peaceful coexistence.

Ismail commended the governor for his support for Islamic education and religious institutions, saying the gesture had contributed to the advancement of learning across the state.

Islamic scholars, traditional leaders and other participants also called for stronger collaboration among government, religious institutions and traditional authorities to promote peace, unity and sustainable development.
