Recovered Assets to Boost Education as FG, EFCC Deepen Partnership

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to channeling recovered proceeds of crime into the development of the education sector following the handover of recovered assets by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to the Federal Ministry of Education.

Receiving the assets on behalf of the ministry, the Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, described the gesture as another demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to education, human capital development and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the minister, the recovered assets will be deployed to improve learning infrastructure, expand access to quality education and enhance students’ welfare across educational institutions nationwide.

Dr. Alausa also commended the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, for ensuring that recovered assets are converted into tangible benefits for Nigerians.

He recalled that previous recoveries had supported the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia and provided seed funding for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, underscoring the government’s resolve to reinvest recovered public resources in critical sectors.

The EFCC formally handed over 501 double-decker bed frames, 939 mattresses and 12 wooden beds with mattresses recovered during Operation Eagle Flush.

The Federal Ministry of Education said the assets would be deployed transparently across educational institutions to strengthen infrastructure, improve students’ welfare and support better learning outcomes nationwide.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Boriowo Folasade.
