Everyone connected to the Cleveland Browns hopes that Week 2 of the 2026 NFL season is a turnaround event, with the NFL playoffs– not the 2027 NFL draft – as the main concern when it comes to the standings. However, much like last year’s Jacksonville Jaguars Watch, Browns fans have the Los Angeles Rams Watch when it comes to the draft for the next few years due to the DE Myles Garrett trade.
Before the season, we noted how Garrett’s knee and Matthew Stafford’s back could be key to where Cleveland would be drafting with the incoming draft pick.
In Week 1, Rams Watch saw Los Angeles lose, and Garrett had his worst game of the year, leading to the star defensive end having surgery and going on injured reserve. The Rams bounced back in Week 2 on Monday Night Football, helped by the New York Giants losing QB Jaxson Dart to injury.
Before Sunday’s kickoff for Week 3 games, an update on Garrett’s recovery timeline came out:

Later in the report, it was noted that Los Angeles will be cautious, with HC Sean McVay saying they are “not going to rush him back.”
Garrett is eligible to return from IR in Week 6, but the new timeline has a more realistic return in Week 9. Between now and then, the Rams schedule starts out tough before what looks like easier contests:
If Los Angeles is treading water and the schedule continues to look easier from Week 6 on, the Rams might be more than willing to give Garrett some extra weeks before a playoff push for the second half of the year. If the team is struggling, something beneficial for Browns fans, the organization may decide to ramp up the return timeline, which could increase the risk of reinjury.
