Rams OLB Myles Garrett likely to return to practice next week

The Los Angeles Rams‘ hopes of a dominant season were crushed last week, and to make things worse, the team lost several players to injured reserve. Davante Adams, Kobie Turner and Poona Ford all joined Myles Garrett on IR after getting hurt in Sunday’s loss.

With all the bad news, the Rams were in need of some positivity and got it on Friday morning. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Garrett is likely to return to practice next week, which will be his first time practicing since Week 1.

“I was told for Myles Garrett that it is likely he returns to practice next week, which would be about seven or eight weeks from the injury. So, could potentially play Week 8,” said Rapoport.

That means not only is Garrett likely to practice next week, but he could also play. The Rams face the Los Angeles Chargers in that contest.

Garrett has only played in one game this year, the season-opener, before lingering knee issues that were exacerbated in the offseason forced the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year to address the injury with surgery and a stint on injured reserve.

The Rams traded Jared Verse and draft picks for Garrett this offseason in hopes he would be the pass rusher that gets the franchise back to the Super Bowl. When Garrett returns, he will have to help the Rams dig themselves out of a 2-4 hole that has them sitting in last in the division.
