49ers tight end George Kittle and pass rusher Nick Bosa had no injury designations, and they indeed will play the season opener.
The team announced its inactives ahead of Thursday night’s season opener against the Rams in Melbourne.
Quarterback Kurtis Rourke, cornerback Ephesians Prysock, running back Jordan James, wide receiver Jordan Watkins, linebacker Tatum Bethune and offensive tackle Enrique Cruz are the 49ers’ inactives. Rourke is the emergency third quarterback.
49ers defensive tackle James Thompson (hamstring) was the only player on either team with an injury designation aside from Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald, who did not make the trip after recently coming out of retirement. Thompson is dressed for the game.
The 49ers placed defensive tackle Alfred Collins on season-ending injured reserve earlier. Collins tore a patellar tendon during practice earlier this week.
The team also elevated wide receiver KhaDarel Hodge and defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo from the practice squad.
The Rams’ inactives are wide receiver CJ Daniels, wide receiver Tutu Atwell, offensive lineman Bill Murray, tight end Max Klare and quarterback Ty Simpson. Simpson will serve as the emergency third quarterback.
That means Stetson Bennett is officially the backup quarterback to Matthew Stafford.
