Raiders trade offensive lineman to jets

With the deadline for the initial 53-man roster looming in just hours (3 p.m. PT), the Las Vegas Raiders are making moves.

According to NFL Media, the Raiders have traded backup center/guard Jordan Meredith to the New York Jets. The Raiders are sending a 2029 seventh-round pick to New York with Meredith for a 2027 sixth-round pick.

Meredith, 28, is entering the final year of his contract and is making $3.5 million. He will reunite with quarterback Geno Smith with the Jets as the two played together in Las Vegas last season. Meredith will probably be a backup in New York.

Meredith played in 45 games with the Raiders from 2022-25 with 20 starts. He started 11 games last season.

Meredith’s role in Las Vegas become clouded with the emergence of rookie, third-round pick Trey Zuhn, who is primed to be the primary backup to new starting center Tyler Linderbaum.
