The Dallas Cowboys appear to be content with a less-than-stellar pass-rushing attack heading into the 2026-27 season.
On Saturday, ESPN’s Todd Archer published an article that detailed the Cowboys’ woes in that regard and noted that without a game-changing edge rusher, Dallas will look to use their depth to give it the desired pass-rushing production.
However, could the Cowboys’ stance on trading for a star edge rusher change anytime soon? crosby-aiyuk-kamara" target="_blank">ESPN’s Dan Graziano believes so, suggesting that a Las Vegas Raiders standout defender could be a contributor Dallas turns its attention to in due time.
“(Maxx) Crosby already got traded this offseason,” Graziano wrote Thursday. “Well, sort of. He was headed to Baltimore for a pair of first-round draft picks until the Ravens backed out over medical concerns regarding his surgically repaired left knee.”
“Since that time, Crosby’s $29 million salary has become fully guaranteed in 2027, which means any team that acquires him would owe him $59 million in fully guaranteed money over the next two years.”
“Crosby might stick with the Raiders all year at this point, but if he’s going to get traded at all, we’re probably looking at something in-season ahead of the deadline. If a team such as the Cowboys, (Buffalo) Bills, (Chicago) Bears, or (New England) Patriots finds itself in contention and in need of an impact pass rusher, things could get interesting here again.”
All four Crosby suitors listed by Graziano could use Crosby’s services, as they all finished with fewer than 40 sacks last year and are in desperate need of an elite disruptor on the edge. However, with as high-powered an offense as the Cowboys, the five-time Super Bowl champions shouldn’t be afraid to be the most aggressive on the edge rushing trade market.
The Cowboys finished the 2025-26 campaign with 391. 9 total yards per game (2nd in the NFL), and 27.7 points per game (7th in the NFL), but were plagued by untimely defensive woes/breakdowns.
Acquiring Crosby would make it easier for Dallas to hold their own defensively and decrease the chances of the franchise’s offense being left out to dry. Crosby has recorded at least seven sacks in each of his first seven NFL seasons and is among the most reliable tacklers in the league.
A trade for Crosby may not occur right now, but a mid-season deal shouldn’t be ruled out just yet.
