Raffaele Palladino, born in Mugnano (Naples) on 17 April 1984, enjoyed a long career as a professional footballer, making three appearances for the Italian national team. After retiring from playing, he joined Monza’s youth academy as a coach before moving from the Primavera to take charge of the first team in September 2022.
After finishing his first season in charge with an excellent eleventh-place finish, he followed that up the following year by guiding the team to another early survival, earning a move to Fiorentina, who were competing in the Conference League. In his first European campaign with the Viola, he led the team to the semi-finals, while also securing another place in the same competition by finishing sixth in Serie A with 65 points, the club’s highest tally in several seasons. Taking over at Atalanta in November of the following campaign, Palladino had the opportunity to coach in the Champions League, guiding the team through the league phase and play-offs before they were eliminated by Bayern Munich in the Round of 16. At the end of the league season, his Atalanta side finished seventh to qualify for the Conference League.
Raffaele Palladino will be officially introduced tomorrow at 17:30 CEST in the press room at the Niccolò Galli Training Centre.
