Prediction: Schalke vs Bayern Munich

Turning their attention back to Bundesliga action on Saturday evening, Bayern Munich will travel to the Veltins Arena when they meet Schalke.

With a stacked weekend schedule from across Europe’s elite domestic leagues, there are plenty of eye-catching betting promotions available.

Verdict: Bayern Munich win & Both teams to score

Starting with the hosts, storming their way to a famous Bundesliga return back in May, it is no secret that Schalke’s sole focus is on maintaining their top-flight status this time around. However, despite opening up the 2026/27 campaign with the mood in their camp reportedly at a real high, Miron Muslic’s men gor proceedings underway with a nightmare performance last weekend. Completely blown away against Augsburg as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat in Bavaria, the Blues will be more than aware that they face another monumental challenge here. Despite being backed by a vocal support at the Veltins Arena on Saturday evening, Schalke hold a woeful record against the reigning German champions. Including a 6-0 drumming when they last met Bayern back in May 2023, they have failed to claim a single win against Saturday’s guests across all competitions since way back in March 2011.

Shown a second-half straight red card away at Augsburg last weekend, Ron Schallenberg will miss out through suspension on Saturday evening. Once again missing out in Bavaria with a reported hip issue, former Besiktas attacker Kenan Karaman remains a doubt here.

Playing a leading role as Schalke booked their famous Bundesliga return last season, veteran striker and former Manchester City ace Edin Dzeko could make a maiden start. Now entering his third campaign at the Veltins Arena, one-time Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius will start between the sticks.

Bayern Munich

As for the visitors, only shattering more domestic records last season, Bayern Munich have only continued to shine under the guidance of Vincent Kompany. Once again retaining their Bundesliga crown at a canter, the former Burnley boss has seen his superstar squad receive a fearsome reputation from across the continent. Opening up the 2026/27 campaign with a dominant 5-1 romp at home against Stuttgart last weekend, the German giants are universally installed as a landslide contender to complete another domestic silverware sweep this season. Already getting their hands on another piece of silverware as they were crowned Super Cup champions thanks to a 2-1 win against bitter rivals Borussia Dortmund on August 22nd, Bayern have also gained a reputation for their free-scoring performances in the final third. In fact, Kompany’s side notched a staggering 122 goals in their 34 Bundesliga appearances last season.

Yet to feature this season after a summer that was littered with concerning health issues, German superstar Jamal Musiala will once again miss out on Saturday evening. Likewise, not making a single appearance across any competition since back in April, fellow Germany international Serge Gnabry remains on the sidelines.

Storming his way to Germany’s Golden Boot last season after notching 36 Bundesliga goals in his 31 appearances, England skipper Harry Kane will lead the line here. Completing a big-money switch from Dutch outfit PSV this summer, Ismael Saibari could make a maiden Bundesliga start.

Schalke vs Bayern Munich Key Factors to Consider

  • When Schalke and Bayern Munich last met for a Bundesliga showdown back in May 2023, the reigning German champions stormed their way to a dominant 6-0 victory at the Allianz.
  • Schalke have failed to claim a single win against Saturday’s guests across all competitions since way back in March 2011.
  • Including their Super Cup success last month, Bayern Munich have notched 11 goals in their opening three domestic appearances across all fronts.
  • Kompany’s side notched a record-breaking tally of 122 goals in their 34 Bundesliga appearances last season.
  • Clinching Germany’s Golden Boot last season, England skipper Harry Kane notched 36 Bundesliga goals during the 2025/26 campaign.

Once again embarking on a dominant start to proceedings, Bayern Munich will simply be looking to make another early statement on Saturday evening. Already getting their hands on yet another piece of silverware last month, Kompany’s superstar squad have continued to gain a reputation for their remarkable success in the final third. Breezing their way to a routine 6-0 romp when they last met Schalke for a Bundesliga battle back in May 2023, it is no surprise why the reigning German champions are installed as such a landslide contender here.
