Prediction: Brentford vs Tottenham

Two camps who will get their respective Premier League adventures underway on Saturday evening, Brentford will welcome Tottenham to west London.

With England’s elite set to steal centre stage this weekend, there are plenty of eye-catching betting promotions available.

Brentford

Starting with the hosts, while there might have been plenty of raised eyebrows last summer following Keith Andrews’ arrival in west London, Brentford cemented their spot as one of the Premier League’s ultimate surprise packages. Despite narrowly falling short in the race to book an iconic maiden European adventure, the Bees rightfully received a string of plaudits from across the continent. Signing off their summer preparations with a sensational 7-0 romp against German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt, Brentford will be hoping to lay down an immediate marker this weekend. Potentially with their sights set on mounting another genuine European charge this season, Andrews’ side have also suffered just a sole Premier League defeat in front of their own supporters since the end of January.

Yet to make a single appearance across any competition so far this calendar year, Brentford will once again be without Netherlands youngster Antoni Milambo remains on the sidelines with a long-term knee injury. However, former Liverpool starlet Fabio Carvalho has returned from his own respective extended knee issue and could play some part here.

Storming his way to Brentford’s Golden Boot last season and bagging 22 Premier League strikes, attacking talisman and Brazilian ace Igor Thiago will spearhead Andrews’ charge in the final third.

Tottenham

As for the visitors, while Tottenham might have eventually dragged themselves over the finishing line as they clung to their Premier League status, Spurs once again came under a huge amount of scrutiny. Once again forced to settle for another nightmare 17th-place finish among England’s elite, Robert De Zerbi’s camp have a huge amount of pressure on their shoulders. Although the Lilywhites might have enjoyed an eye-catching summer flurry, the former Brighton boss will know the importance of finding some crucial defensive grit. In fact, Tottenham could only muster a pair of clean sheets from any of their final 17 consecutive appearances across all competitions last season – a run that stemmed all the way back to the end of January.

Both completing their own blockbuster permeant switches to north London this summer, the new duo of Sandro Tonali and Matheus Fernandes should partner each other in the middle of the park. However, Dutch ace Xavi Simons remains on the sidelines with a long-term knee injury.

Likewise, enduring a nightmare run since arriving from West Ham last summer, Mohamed Kudus remains on the sidelines with a muscle issue. Despite being handed an extended break following Spain’s stunning World Cup success last month, Pedro Porro should feature this weekend.

Brentford vs Tottenham Key Factors to Consider

  • When Brentford and Tottenham last met in west London back on New Year’s Day, Saturday’s opponents played out a 0-0 stalemate.
  • The Bees have suffered just a single competitive defeat in front of their own supporters since the end of January.
  • Tottenham registered a pair of clean sheets from any of their final 17 consecutive appearances across all competitions last season – a run that stemmed all the way back to the end of January.
  • Likewise, Spurs have notched just a sole domestic clean sheet on their travels since that 0-0 stalemate against Brentford on New Year’s Day.
  • Brazilian international Igor Thiago registered 22 Premier League strikes last season.

While Saturday’s opponents might have played out a 0-0 stalemate when they last met for a Premier League showdown on New Year’s Day, neutrals will be hoping for a far more enthralling top-flight opener here. With Tottenham mustering just a sole domestic clean sheet on their travels since January 1st, we could be treated to an enjoyable London derby showdown. Two camps who enjoyed their own eye-catching summer flurries, we are backing chances to fall at both ends of the pitch this weekend.
