With west London bragging rights up for grabs on Friday night, Chelsea will travel to the Gtech when they meet local rivals Brentford.

With a stacked schedule from across the continent pencilled in this weekend, there are plenty of attractive betting promotions available.

Brentford

Starting with the hosts, extending on their EFL Cup charge on Tuesday night as they secured a 2-1 victory away at League One outfit Reading, Brentford have rightfully received a string of plaudits on either side of the summer break. Opening the 2026/27 campaign with a thumping 3-0 win at home against Tottenham on August 22nd, Keith Andrews’ men are unbeaten in all of their first six appearances across all competitions. However, forced to settle for a single point in each of their previous three straight Premier League showdowns, Brentford will be concerned by a downbeat recent record against their local rivals. Falling to a 2-0 loss when they travelled to Stamford Bridge back in January, they have failed to win any of their last five meetings against Chelsea.

Missing out against Bournemouth last weekend with a recent calf injury, Brentford are once again sweating over the fitness of Ireland international Nathan Collins. Still recovering from a muscle issue, the Bees will be unable to call upon Mathias Jensen on Friday night.

Handed an EFL Cup rest away at Reading in midweek, leading marksman Igor Thiago will be given a full recall as the Brazilian marksman looks to open his Premier League account. Likewise, former Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher will return between the sticks.

As for the visitors, while Chelsea might have enjoyed a bright start to proceedings last month, Xabi Alonso’s side are enduring somewhat of a recent wobble. Missing out on what they had billed as a real opportunity last time out as they were eventually forced to settle for a 2-2 stalemate at home against Premier League newcomers Hull City, the former Real Madrid boss has seen his superstar squad muster just a sole win from any of their previous three domestic appearances across all competitions. Despite extending on their EFL Cup adventure on September 9th as they secured a remarkable 6-3 victory against Leeds in west London, Chelsea are desperately searching for some defensive stability. In fact, the Blues have already shipped 12 goals from their first five showdowns against top-flight opposition.

While both Joao Pedro and skipper Reece James might have reportedly missed training earlier in the week, both are expected to feature on Friday night. However, missing each of Chelsea’s last three appearances across all competitions with a suspected calf issue, Alonso’s side are expected to be without Moises Caicedo once again.

Finding the net against Hull last weekend and already registering four goals in as many Premier League appearances (three goals, one assist), big-money summer recruit Morgan Rogers could play a leading role in the final third.

Brentford vs Chelsea Key Factors to Consider

  • When Brentford and Chelsea last met for a Premier League showdown back on January 17th, the Blues collected a 2-0 victory on home soil.
  • Chelsea have shipped at least a pair of goals in all of their opening five domestic appearances against top-flight opposition.
  • In fact, already conceding 10 Premier League goals so far this season, no team among England’s elite have shipped more strikes.
  • Each of Brentford’s last three consecutive Premier League appearances have finished in a stalemate.
  • The Bees have suffered just a sole domestic defeat in front of their own supporters since the end of January.
  • England international Morgan Rogers has registered four goals in as many Premier League appearances (three goals, one assist.

Two camps who played out their own respective 2-2 stalemates last weekend, neutrals will be hoping for another Premier League thriller on Friday night. While Chelsea might have gained a reputation for their action-packed affairs since opening up the new campaign, Alonso’s side are desperately searching for some essential defensive grit. With no team among England’s elite shipping more goals so far this season, the Blues have also conceded at least a pair of goals in all of their first five showdowns against Premier League opposition.
