Prediction: Anderlecht vs PAOK
Looking to finish off the job and extend on their Europa League qualifying adventure on Thursday night, Anderlecht will welcome PAOK to Belgium for their second-leg battle.
With Europe’s elite domestic leagues set to make their respective returns over the next fortnight, there are plenty of intriguing betting promotions available.
Anderlecht
Starting with the hosts, mustering just a single victory from any of their final eight domestic appearances across all competitions last season, Anderlecht found themselves under some public scrutiny over the summer. However, enjoying what has been a dominant start to their Europa League qualifying adventure, the Purples also clinched an essential first-leg advantage on foreign soil last week. Eventually leaving Greece with a hard-fought 1-0 victory, Vitor Bruno’s men will be looking to officially extend on their group stage charge with another gritty performance. Likewise, opening up the 2026/27 Pro League campaign with a 2-1 win at home against RAAL La Louviere, Anderlecht should find the mood in their camp at a red-hot high. In fact, Thursday’s hosts are enjoying their longest unbeaten run across all competitions since the start of March.
All still dealing with respective injury issues, Anderlecht will once again be unable to call upon the quartet of Ilay Camara, Cedric Hatenboer, Lucas Boel Hey and academy graduate Killian Sardella on Thursday night.
Bagging a first-leg winner over in Greece last week in what was a first senior start, 17-year-old Kana Nga will feature in the final third. Arriving from Spanish outfit Elche over the summer, French star Leo Petrot will start at the heart of Bruno’s defence.
As for the visitors, missing out on the chance to claim a first-leg advantage on home soil last week as they eventually fell to that 1-0 loss, PAOK have an almighty job on their hands here. Despite sending Dynamo Kyiv packing last month, Alessio Lisci’s camp find their Europa League dreams hanging in the balance. Despite collecting a bronze medal finish among Greece’s elite last season, PAOK have struggled to find any kind of stability on their travels. In fact, Thursday’s guests have won just a pair of their previous 10 consecutive showdowns away from the Toumba Stadium across all competitions – a rut that stems all the way back to February 4th. Likewise, Lisci’s side have also notched just a sole clean sheet on the road over the past six months.
Still on the sidelines with a foot injury and not making a single appearance across any competition since back in March, PAOK will once again be without Bulgarian midfielder Kiril Despodov on Thursday night.
Arriving from Spanish outfit Valencia over the summer, 31-year-old Baptiste Santamaria will start in the middle of the park. Now in his second campaign at the Toumba Stadium, one-time Everton youngster Jonjoe Kenny will start at right-back.
Anderlecht vs PAOK Key Factors to Consider
- When Anderlecht and PAOK met for their first-leg showdown in Greece last week, the Purples claimed a 1-0 victory on foreign soil.
- Anderlecht are unbeaten in their first four competitive appearances so far this season (three wins, one draw).
- In fact, Anderlecht are enjoying their longest unbeaten run since the start of March.
- Continuing on from last season PAOK have registered just a single clean sheet from their previous nine competitive appearances across all formats.
- 10 of Anderlecht’s last 11 appearances across all competitions have finished with both teams finding the net.
Enjoying what has been a dominant flurry since returning from the summer interval, Anderlecht will be looking to extend on their Europa League qualifying adventure with another professional performance. Unbeaten in each of their first four appearances since opening up the 2026/27 campaign, Thursday’s hosts are enjoying their most fruitful spell since back in March. Sat in the driving seat following their 1-0 victory over in Greece last week, a home double chance can be found at appealing odds.
