Police arrest woman over alleged killing of husband in Kano

Police have arrested a woman, Bilkisu Sani, over the alleged killing of her husband, Hafizu Gausu, in Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State.

The incident occurred on Friday at about 7 pm in the Katsalle area of Rogo town.

A resident, simply identified as Kazagi, revealed that Bilkisu allegedly raised the alarm that her husband had been slaughtered. When residents rushed to check, they found him lying in a pool of blood with an injury to his head.

He said the police were contacted and subsequently evacuated the body for investigation.

According to Kazagi, the deceased had recently become engaged to another woman and was planning to marry her as a second wife, which led to repeated disagreements between Gausu and Bilkisu, who allegedly opposed the proposed marriage.

He added that the police subsequently arrested Bilkisu as the prime suspect in connection with the death.

Gausu was buried on Saturday morning in Rogo according to Islamic rites.
