Police arrest one suspect over alleged murder of Delta education director, hunt others

The Delta State Police Command, led by CP Samuel E. Erale, has arrested a suspect, Lucky Adoh, in connection with the alleged murder of a Deputy Director in the State Ministry of Secondary Education, Mr Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda.

The police have also launched a manhunt for other suspects allegedly involved in the murder of the Deputy Director.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement sent to DAILY POST today.

The police spokesman said, “The Delta State Police Command is aware of reports surrounding the death of Mr Unity Ekpevbughe Adeda, a Deputy Director in the Delta State Ministry of Secondary Education, following an incident that occurred at the office of the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, in Asaba.”

According to SP Edafe, “The Command has also taken note of allegations suggesting that he was beaten by aides to the commissioner identified as Enos Attah, Oputa Okestine, and Lucky Adoh.”

He explained that, “The command, upon receipt of the complaints, immediately swung into action and arrested one of the suspects, Lucky Adoh, while a manhunt for the other suspects is ongoing.”

Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, has consequently ordered the Homicide Section of the Command’s State Criminal Investigation Department to carry out a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and the subsequent death of the deceased.

He said, “The investigation will examine all available evidence, including relevant video footage, eyewitness accounts, medical records, and the actions of all persons connected with the incident, to establish the facts and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice in accordance with the law.”

CP Erale assured the family of the deceased, concerned citizens and members of the public that the command would neither shield nor spare anyone found culpable, irrespective of status or position.

He further assured that the investigation would be conducted professionally, transparently and without interference, while urging members of the public to remain calm and refrain from drawing conclusions until the facts surrounding the incident are fully established.

CP Samuel E. Erale also extended condolences to the family of the deceased and assured them that justice would be pursued diligently and without fear or favour.
