Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire & Emerald Collection Officially Releasing In 2027 With Pre-Orders Open Now

Pokémon fans are having a pretty big year in 2026, with the 30th Anniversary giving us a veritable mountain of brand-new releases to make the wait for Pokémon Winds & Waves’ 2027 release a little bit easier. Between new TCG cards, figures, stuffed toys, keychains, hoodies, and pretty much anything else you can think of, there’s a lot more Pokémon merch than usual. And that’s really saying something.

One particular collection fans will want to keep an eye on sees the return of Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. The Gen 3 Pokémon games remain some of the most popular thanks to some fantastic monster designs and a beautiful region called Hoenn. The good news is Hoenn is about to be immortalized further with a new physical release that we need immediately.

Bandai Namco has confirmed the upcoming release of three Pokémon figures based on Hoenn’s Legendary trio of Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza set for release next year. Currently only available for pre-order, this latest run of figures is part of Bandai Namco’s Pokémon Scale World line, which started in 2021 and brings to life several of the games’ most beloved ‘mons in physical form.

The full list of specs and features for the three upcoming figures is as follows:

  • 1/20 Scale
  • Made of PVC
  • Based on the Pokemon series
  • Part of Bandai’s Pokemon Scale World
  • Highly detailed
  • Non-articulated
  • Price:

    • Groudon – $164.99
    • Kyogre – $129.99
    • Rayquaza – $107.99

At present, it looks like the only place you can make your pre-order is via BigBadToyStore, though it’s worth noting the price difference in the figures above. Each figure also has a non-refundable down payment, so do be aware of that before making any purchase.

Rumours abound that 2027 will see Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire released for Nintendo Switch console in the same way FireRed & LeafGreen were at the start of this year, although nothing has been officially confirmed yet. Even so, the signs are very clearly there. The official Japanese Pokémon account on X previously shared a short clip of the Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire in action, and fans were very quick to point out it didn’t look like any emulator they were familiar with, suggesting a Switch port.

In less positive Pokémon 30th anniversary news, the free-to-play MOBA Pokémon Unite is officially ending its service on March 23, 2027.

This month players can take part in a “special event and update” in which you will be able to get your hands on unique items. A new Library feature is also being added to the game so that players can look back over certain stats and content. The Library will remain accessible after the end of service, even though the game itself will become unplayable.

The Pokémon Company is also currently counting down to November 30 for some mysterious reason, but nobody is entirely sure what that could be about at this stage. A new look at Winds & Waves? A surprise release for Ruby & Sapphire on Nintendo Switch? We’ll have to wait and see.
