Pokémon has so many fingers in so many pies that it’s safe from imploding for years to come. Although players are getting upset over the increase in scalping for the Pokémon TCG, it’s still making money hand over fist. When it comes to the mainline video games, despite hang-ups from long-term fans and newcomers alike, the last few games have cracked the overall top five list in terms of franchise sales.
Pokémon has so many different arms, and one is gearing up to spin up again later this month, according to a new blog post, with the return of an epic Legendary and several concurrent events.
Later this month, Pokémon Go is rolling out several events that overlap in timing, and much of it involves returning content that’s been missing for quite some time. The real crown jewel, which kicks off on November 21 from 11AM-2PM local time, is the return of Eternatus, one of the most memorable Legendary Pokémon from the Sword & Shield Generation.
Here are the details we have from publisher Scopely:
“Prepare for the biggest battles of Pokémon GO as Eternamax Eternatus darkens the sky worldwide in Max Battles. Eternamax Eternatus will take over the majority of Power Spots on November 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time. While Trainers will not be able to catch Eternamax Eternatus after defeating it in Max Battles, they will earn a large amount of Eternatus Candy and Eternatus Candy XL, which can be used to power up the Eternatus they can catch via GO Pass: Dynamax Trails.”
Note that Eternatus can only be captured once during this event, and “requires much more Candy and Candy XL to power up.” Naturally, the Dynamax Trails and Go Pass Deluxe will offer Eternatus Candy. It’s also two days after the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6.
In other Pokémon Go-related news, Max Battles are also getting a huge boost, as every Dynamax Pokémon seen in the game so far is coming back. This is all part of the Dynamax Trails event, which runs from November 16 at 10AM local time to November 23 at 8PM local time. Here are all the details we have on Eternatus:
“Prepare for the return of every Dynamax Pokémon seen in Pokémon GO! All Dynamax Pokémon that have appeared in Pokémon GO may appear in Max Battles. Trainers who take on Max Battles during the event will have a chance of receiving a Special Background after making a successful catch. This Special Background will appear on the Pokémon’s summary page, showing when the Pokémon was caught and commemorating your adventures!”
Finally, Spotlight Hour runs from November 19 through 6 PM-7 PM local time, when you can more easily catch Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble. You’ll also get x2 Catch Candy during this time, and the chance to encounter shiny versions of the aforementioned First Partner Trio.
For any Pokémon Go fan out there, this is a must-play period, as we head into a busy Q4 with Ocarina of Time and Grand Theft Auto 6 vying for players’ time.
