Play suspended late on back nine in Travelers Championship

· · 1 min read

Play was suspended at 5:57 p.m. ET in the final round of the Travelers Championship because of threatening weather in Cromwell, Connecticut. PGA Tour officials announced a resumption scheduled for 7:20 p.m. ET.

Scottie Scheffler holds the lead at 21 under par through 13 holes at TPC River Highlands. Collin Morikawa is in the clubhouse at 20 under, following a closing 61.

Viktor Hovland, in the final pairing with Scheffler, is at 19 under, tied with Wyndham Clark (through 14).

Rain began to increase around 5:20 p.m., and turned in a downpour at times. Officials continued play as TPC River Highlands was holding up to the conditions. Once electricity arrived in the area, however, the horn sounded and players were taken off the course.

Morikawa was already there. He started the day eight shots off the lead and made nine birdies — and no bogeys — in the final round. The last birdie came at the par-4 18th, where, in an increasing rain, he hit his approach shot from a fairway bunker to 9 feet and converted the delicate putt.

Scheffler and Hovland shared the 54-hole lead. Scheffler, the 2024 Travelers champ, had three birdies and one bogey before play was halted. Hovland had four bogeys and three birdies to fall back.
