A fatal multiple-vehicle crash on the Kara Bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway early Friday left one person dead, injured two others, and triggered hours of severe traffic congestion.
The crash, which involved several articulated trucks, a Toyota Sienna, a Lexus and a commercial bus in separate incidents, caused a massive gridlock stretching beyond Otedola Bridge, with adjoining roads also affected.
Emergency responders, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), were on the ground to control the expressway traffic and clear the wreckage.
These photographs capture the scale of the crash, the recovery efforts, and the traffic disruption that stranded hundreds of commuters.
