Philadelphia Flyers

Philly Hockey Now: It was the same old Flyers, making the same old mistakes on Thursday against the New York Rangers. After a phenomenal second period, the Flyers collapsed late in the third period, suffering another devastating loss.

Before the game, we looked at an interesting option for the Flyers. The Winnipeg Jets ran the risk and put Brad Lambert on waivers. He could not quite cut it in the NHL, but losing him was not ideal. The Flyers could find themselves in a similar situation with David Jiricek. He has desirable skills but isn’t quite NHL-ready. Can the Flyers learn something from how the Jets handled Lambert?

After the game in New York, Matvei Michkov‘s ice time, once again, became a hot topic of conversation. This time, it was his own doing, liking a post on Instagram criticizing his ice time, or lack thereof. The young winger is clearly frustrated, but he has a point.

NHL Trade Rumors & News

Let’s look at the latest NHL trade rumors around the league! First up, the Flyers’ rival Pittsburgh Penguins. Evgeni Malkin is a legend. One of the all-time wingers in both points and championships. He resigned in Pittsburgh for one more year, but his time with the Penguins may end early. Darren Dreger reports he may have to submit a trade list by the New Year if the Penguins continue to struggle.

NHLTradeRumors.me: Now, the trade rumors have the league in a standstill. When will there be a resolution to the Dylan Larkin saga in Detroit? Dave Pagnotta reports that a solution may come by American Thanksgiving, or at least the Red Wings softening their stance.

Detroit Hockey Now: Sticking with Detroit, they have another prized trade chip. Simon Edvinsson still does not have an NHL contract. His name is still hot on the trade market, despite the Red Wings’ wish to keep him. While no resolution seems close, he is still skating in the US while the Red Wings continue to field offers.

With all of that, it does not seem like the price will be cheap for Edvinsson.

Based on this ask from the Detroit Red Wings, here is what the return would probably look like from every team interested in Simon Edvinsson.

Boston Bruins – James Hagens+
San Jose Sharks – Michael Misa+
Utah Mammoth – Caleb Desnoyers+
Montreal Canadiens – Michael Hage+… https://t.co/MMqetkQyVipic.twitter.com/mWPl1At7ov

If that is the cost, that would certainly take the Flyers out of the running.

Sportsnet: With the season fully underway, the 2027 Calder Trophy race is taking shape. Sportsnet released its first Calder Trophy watch. Flyers forward Porter Martone did not make the list, but the player picked one pick after him is leading the pack.

San Jose Hockey Now: The San Jose Sharks’ rebuild, despite all of the elite young talent, is still not quite there yet. A lot of that pressure has fallen on second-year head coach Ryan Warofsky. Some have called for his job, but Sheng Peng writes that his job is safe, for now.
