Peter Obi visits NLC headquarters, mourns Secretary-General Ugboaja

The 2027 presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, on Wednesday visited the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, headquarters in Abuja.

In a post on his verified X handle, Obi said he was at the NLC headquarters to mourn the death of NLC Secretary-General, Emmanuel Ugboaja.

He described Ugboaja’s death as a rude shock, stating that the deceased was a good friend, a gentleman and a principled advocate for the rights, dignity and welfare of Nigerian workers.

He said Ugboaja’s commitment to the labour movement and his unwavering belief in the cause of workers made him a remarkable man.

The ex-Anambra State governor said the deceased lived a life of service, and his contributions to the labour movement will remain part of his enduring legacy.

“Today, I visited the headquarters of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Abuja to condole with the leadership, led by its President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, over the painful loss of the NLC General Secretary, Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, Esq.

“I am consoled by the knowledge that Comrade Emmanuel lived an exemplary life and dedicated himself to a cause greater than himself.
