Martin Perelman has urged his Orlando City SC side to cut out the mistakes made in their draw with Minnesota United when they face San Diego FC this weekend.
Orlando had raced into a two-goal lead at Allianz Field thanks to strikes from Daryl Dike and Antoine Griezmann, only to surrender their advantage in the space of four minutes.
Marcus Caldeira, Anthony Markanich and Kelvin Yeboah turned the game on its head heading into the 75th minute, but Tyrese Spicer salvaged a point in stoppage time.
It was a result that extended Orlando’s unbeaten league run to two matches following a three-game winless run, leaving them ninth in the Eastern Conference.
Orlando have conceded the joint-most goals in the MLS this season, alongside Sporting Kansas City (54), and Perelman said a lack of concentration at the back will continue to punish his side if they are not eradicated.
“What everybody saw was probably a really good 60 minutes,” interim boss Perelman told reporters.
“We came here, we were winning two-zero, and it’s disappointing to be losing three-two because of some mistakes we made. And then the guys made a huge effort.
“We never stopped fighting, even with mistakes. We came back to draw. Weird sensation because we were close to winning, but a point on the road is always a point.”

San Diego, meanwhile, put together back-to-back wins for just the second time this season after beating the LA Galaxy 3-1 at Snapdragon Stadium last time out.
Elias Achouri’s early goal was followed up by Kieran Sargeant’s early strike in the second half, but San Diego’s Jeppe Tverskov was then sent off for a second bookable offence.
The Galaxy made the most of their advantage through Hirving Lozano, but Amahl Pellegrino made sure of the win in the 70th minute with a fine finish into the bottom-right corner.
But ahead of their latest league game, San Diego said goodbye to Luca Bombino, who completed a move to Championship side Stoke City on deadline day in England.
The 20-year-old only joined San Diego last February, going on to make 56 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals as well as providing six assists.
“My dream is to play at the highest level I can, and I think this next opportunity is fantastic for that,” Bombino said of his move to Stoke.
“I’ve felt the support the whole way through and especially today, you know, everybody has my back. It’s a great test. And I’m really excited about taking it.
“Everybody’s saying they’re going to go and buy new jerseys and have a new favourite team in England. Another door is opened, and I’m excited to go through it.”
Orlando City SC – Antoine Griezmann
Griezmann has adapted to the MLS quickly, and he registered a goal and an assist during Orlando’s draw with Minnesota.
Since his debut in the competition, only Evander and Lionel Messi (both nine) have registered more goal contributions than Griezmann’s seven (four goals, three assists).
After finishing the 2025 season with an impressive 43 goal contributions (23 goals, 20 assists), Dreyer has once again been San Diego’s star performer this term.
Dreyer registered three assists last time out, taking his total to 12 for the campaign, more than any other player. Against the Galaxy, he also finished with team-high totals for chances created (six) and touches in the opposition box (eight).

MATCH PREDICTION: ORLANDO CITY SC WIN
In what will be the first meeting between Orlando and San Diego, the Opta supercomputer has backed the hosts to get all three points.
At Inter.co Stadium this season, Orlando have five wins, two draws, and four losses in 11 MLS contests, and have lost just one of their last six on home soil (W3 D2).
San Diego, meanwhile, have been poor on the road. They have only registered two away league wins, though their latest such victory came on August 15 at Los Angeles FC.
